The Crowell Gallery at the Moore Free Library in Newfane, Vermont will be exhibiting their outstanding collection of contemporary southern Vermont artists.  The Gallery, housed in the Moore’s renovated 1890’s barn at the back of the library, was restored by local artists Dan and Gray MacArthur in 2002.
Robert L. Crowell served as a trustee of the Moore Free Library from 1976 to 2001, five of those years as president of the Board. As the Library’s primary benefactor, he funded scholarship programs, literacy awards, and Library renovations.  He passed away June 29, 2001.  Aside from his sponsorship of the Moore Free Library, Bob Crowell is remembered for many other generous acts to the Newfane community; a library addition for the NewBrook Elementary School. a yearly nursing scholarship through the Valley Health Council, a scholarship for Newfane and Brookline residents who plan to attend college, a restoration to the Union Hall and the planting and maintenance of many village trees.  He has also donated undeveloped land to conservation organizations.  These many gifts will continue to enrich the village for years to come.
